Killer bees, or Africanized honey bees, are hybrid mistakes. They first came to being when a bee keeper accidentally released 26 Tanzanian queen bees into another bee hive on a farm in South Eastern Brazil.
Since their release, the killer bees have multiplied and migrated. They can now be found throughout South America and through most of North America.
Africanized honey bees are highly aggressive, hence the name “killer bee”, and are known to move huge distances in massive swarms. When they are threatened in any way, they will attack. They will ruthlessly sting any threat to death, as happens to about two people a year in the USA.
